Best March Birding Spots

The lower part of the closed area just below Goose Island (Shady Maple Area) along Hwy 35.  There is a nice mix of diving and puddle ducks close to 1000 Common Merganzers in this area alone.  Stop at the first and second pull offs below Goose Island.

The other best spot is the area around the Coon Creek delta just south of Stoddard.  The area in front of the Stoddard boat landing is still ice covered, but may open today and will certainly be open by the weekend.  From the Coon Creek delta overlook, make sure to look to the northwest.  That is where Pelicans were on 3/9.
