Pre-European Ecology       (Begin Exhibit »)

La Crosse has a long history of humans interacting with its unique environment. Beginning with the Paleo-Indians (ca. 10,000 B.C.), the La Crosse area provided resources for many different groups of inhabitants throughout time. Though sometimes overexploited, the region always offered enough to attract people. Each group left its own unique imprint, influencing the ecology of the beautiful La Crosse area.
